7 things to know about the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Although it is not powered by a V8 or even equipped with a combustion engine at all, the Ford Mach-E has made its way into the Mustang family. The Mustang Mach-E is an Electric SUV which is definitely the last thing we expected to wear the Pony logo.

Now the real question is; is it worth sharing its name with the legendary Mustang car? The short answer is yes! Many Ford executives stated it was an actual Mustang after driving it for the very first time. To be honest with you, I wasn't sure about the Mach-E identity before driving it. Even if it looks like a Mustang from the outside, it is far different than the car from the inside. I have owned two Mustangs in my life so far. I never thought an Electric SUV wearing the Mustang name would be so much more impressive.

If you haven't been convinced yet by the Ford Mustang Mach-E, here are 7 things that should make you change your mind about the American EV SUV.

1 – There is a GT version

There are plenty of versions to choose from, but Ford wanted the Mach-E to have a GT version. This one sits at the top of the line for the American EV SUV, and for a good reason. The Mach-E GT offers staggering performances even if it doesn't have a V8 under the hood. This version is powered by multiple electric motors for a total output of 480 hp and 634 lb-ft of torque. This is more power than you get with the Mustang GT car. This allows the EV SUV to reach 100 km/h in less than 3.7 seconds which is quite fast.

2 – 505 km of autonomy

Autonomy is a big deal for most EVs. In most cases, it is even a deal breaker. Luckily, the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E offers up to 505 km of autonomy on one single charge, which is a lot more than the average of the market.

3 – It is eligible for some Government incentives

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E isn't cheap, but some versions are eligible for provincial subvention programs in Quebec or BC.

4 – A high-tech experience

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is full of new technologies and one of them being the BlueCruise available in option, which is Ford's latest autonomous driving system that allows you to leave your hand from the steering wheel. Ford says there is 160 000 km of road compatible with the system in North America.

5 – A Glass Roof

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E isn't a huge car, but one element that helps to make it feel a lot bigger is the glass roof. It cannot be opened, but it offers a unique experience for the cabin. Again this isn't standard equipment, but you should definitely get it.

6 – FordPass

FordPass isn't specific to the Mustang Mach-E itself, but it is a very powerful tool that helps you with some aspects of your vehicle. It is also one of the best systems of its kind on the market.

7 – A true SUV

The Mustang Mach-E might have the power and the driving experience of a sports car, but it is a true SUV indeed. The Mach-E's cargo space is pretty spacious, and the American SUV has some incredible off-road capabilities.
